Grace, thank you for throwing me an awesome bridal shower. i love you and i know how much work and sweat and effort you must have spent in order to make it such an awesome event! thank you, thank you, thank you. you're the best. Jennifer and Mariana sent me some awesome photos and I'll post them asap.

Lilsis, Happy birthday tomorrow. i love you and thank you for driving home this weekend to come to the shower. I hope you don't drink all the booze and beer Steve and I pickd up at Costco for your party in one night. Be safe!

given these two options, which would you choose?

seated dinner vs. buffet set-up at your wedding-

seated is definately nicer but with a buffet set-up,

we could spend the $$ difference on renting a PHOTO BOOTH!! and have some change left over!

hmm? which would you choose? give up a classier dinner option for funpics? have a plated seated dinner and no funpics? hmm? huh? huh? which one?

i wondered what we were doing two years ago so i clicked onto your blog for a random 2006 entry and look!

Oh and J and I now have a semi leather couch and Bose wave stereo (she was the top seller in her office) for our future home. We just need a giant HDTV and PS3 and we're set.

and maybe a pair of fancy shoes for her since the PS3 is going run me about $700 with Madden 08. this tactic worked to perfection when i bought my car so it should bode well later on.

no PS3 but we've got a 360 AND a wii... you owe me some shoes!! >:D

wedding shoes

i cant seem to find ones i like.

I had ordered these three from zappos-

Boo shoes

but then returned them as none matched my dress/looked good on my feet. I've been searching, in vain, for these awesome soft pink Valentino (i found white patent leather and black satin versions at south coast but no soft pink) open-toe FM shoes for months but alas, no luck.

i think i'll just wear something i already have- i'm so sick of looking for the perfect white shoe. white shoes suck.

speaking of shoes and things sucking, remember how i dropped two cans of soda on my big two three weeks ago?

my poor toe

i've been keeping my fingers crossed that the toenail won't fall off and have been wearing 4-5 coats of polish on it hoping to cover up some of the dark black bruise (pink polish on the above photo- doesn't work very well, eh?). it's still pretty painful if i bump my toe into something. :T I love shoes and generally think my feet look cute in open toe shoes but now it'll look all gross on my wedding day! oh well. no one can see my feet under my dress but I'll still know and that kind of sucks.

1. Tell one thing that your mom says, that you swore you would never say, but whoops! now you say it.
My mom used to say "Hwoh Guy!" to me every time I hurt myself while goofing around or doing something I knew I shouldn't have been doing in the first place. In Chinese, it basically means, "You deserve that!" or "You brought it upon yourself!" As a child, I used to think to myself, "If my mom really loved me, she wouldn't say something like that to me!" Now I found myself saying that to LS.

2. What did/does your mom smell like? Look like?
I remember her always smelling faintly of a mixture of Shiseido moisturizer and Estee Lauder/Lancome face cream. With time, my memory of what the exact scent smelled like changes. I've tried to find the exact moisturizers and face creams she used at the makeup counters, but I can't seem to locate them. She was stunningly beautiful by all standards when she was younger, with high cheekbones, big eyes and long lashes, and deep dimples. I'd like to think I look a bit like her

3. Tell three ways that you are like your mom, positive or negative.
We both have dimples in both cheeks.
We are both pack rats.
We are both pranksters.

4. Okay, four ways that you are not like your mom, positive or negative.
I am not as kind, forgiving, or patient.
My mom could cook EVERY chinese/korean dish, and I can cook rice- the instant kind. People would invite themselves to my house for dinner, ALL THE TIME, nojoking!, just to eat her home cooked meals.
I am comfortable speaking in front of large groups- actually, I love it. She was shy in large group settings.
I am a lot more confrontational.

5. And now, some way that your kid(s) are like you, if you have kids. If you have imaginary kids or pets or something, that’s okay too.
Since I was LS's main role model since she was 4 years old, I see a lot of similarities in us-
She's a pack rat.
She's a total prankster with a great sense of humor.
She bites her nails when she is nervous/bored.
She is the most funny/ self-confident/ smart/ witty/ brave/ cool girl I know. I don't know if these are things that are similar to me, but I just wanted to mention that all to you.

6. Are you acknowledging mother’s day with your mom? Why or why not, and how?
LS and I took flowers to her. We sat and girl talked for a couple hours. I try to acknowledge my mom in my everyday activities whenever I can.

7. If you are a mom, what is your own fantasy for your mother’s day?
Not a mom yet. I think the best living tribute I can make to my mom is to become the best mom in the world to my own kids someday in the future.

8. What is one thing that would improve the life of moms everywhere?
I would wish all mothers to have grateful children.

9. Tell one favorite story about your mom.
There are so many- one of my favorite memories of my mom and a testimony to her sense of humor occured during a church dinner banquet. My mother spent the entire day and dinner in the kitchen, behind the scenes and making most of the dishes served. During the prayer, everyone stood up, closed their eyes and bowed their heads. My mom came out of the kitchen long enough to slide a fully inflated whoopee cushion onto the seat of the Pastor.
Everyone said "Amen"- the pastor sat down and a large raunchy fart was heard thoughout the room. Everyone looked completely shocked, and all you could hear was my mom laughing hysterically in the kitchen.

All the youth group kids were jealous of me and my siblings. Whose parent was cool enough to pull a prank on not only the church pastor, but with the help of a Whoopee Cushion?

10. Anything else you would like to add?
I really miss my mom- from small daily items to major events in my life, I wish she was around in physical form to share it with me. On the other hand, I know my mom has been watching over me and sending me wonderful people into my life who I am able to share things with.
I wish I had gotten to know my mom as a woman, and not just as my mother.

Celadon, Los Angeles, on Third at Fairfax, across from The Farmer's Market and Whole Foods Market. It's a small, hip, Asian fusion spot, heavy on Korean staples like kochujiang. Mmmm. LeTisha treated me to my third meal at Celadon for a belated birthday meal and I was totally spoiled with delicious food. Thanks, LT! a meal is always yummier when shared with you. :) Thanks so much!

red velvet, chocolate, and lemon. the shot glass on the left contained cupcake toppings- sprinkles, butterfinger bits, and oreo bits. the shot glass on the right contained a vanilla grand marnier sauce. Cupcakes were topped with a large, thin chocolate wafer.

make it rain

funthk made an appearance friday night... and decided to stay all weekend! i'm totally pooped and totally need two days to recover from my 3 day weekend. good thing I have friday off and will have a 3 day work week and another three day weekend! yay me!

we found ourselves clubbing (yes, we still club- haha) on Sunday night, complete with champaigne table service at the most VIP table- on stage with the DJ. BALLIN'! haha. so lame and yet so fun.

thk and our friend Mike love the song make it rain and so after asking for some change, lots and lots of single bills, and then requesting the dj play the song, mike actually stood on stage and made it rain on the crowd below us. The Chinese (and Not Retarded) in me cringed as I saw the bajillion dollars floating in the air but it wasn't my money so I couldn't really say anything. I looked over and saw thk throwing Mike's money into the air and wanted to kick his ass for not shoving it into his pocket, instead.

this morning, mike forwarded us a couple of photos and I was in one of them. Oh, the shame of being caught on a club website the morning after! Luckily, it's just my back view.

make it rain

that empty area in the middle there is because everyone is scrambling on the floor to pick up money. i totally should have hopped down and grabbed some, too! and doesn't my hair look sort of awesome?! it's actually quite fried at the ends and I am in bad need of a haircut; I've been trying to grown my hair out for the wedding but it's been a very slow process.

thk and i went to our first (of three) pre-marital counseling sessions on Saturday afternoon and although it's a little more Christian-based than I would like, we spent a good amount of time talking about the art of communication and conflict resolution in a marriage.

I left the session grateful for being smart enough and wise enough to pick a life partner more patient, more calm, and much more level headed than I am or ever could be. A lot of the communication no-no's discussed were things I do- shutting down, avoidance of problems, silent treatment... when I realized how much harder I make our relationship just by being an ass and got all teary for being 99% of the problem during conflicts, I half expected thk to say something to the pastor to acknowledge what he was saying pertained only to me. instead, he reached over and rubbed my knee and took equal responsibility for our communication bumps. Seriously? how awesome is that?

I'm looking forward to our next session, where we will cover in-law relationships, our sexual relationship- with a minister?awkward!, and something else, but I forget what. Hopefullly I won't giggle through it- it's bad enough that with his fobby accent, every time the minister said "blessed" it sounded like "breasts" and thk and I would snicker. hehe.

in more wedding related crap- anyone have a dj or officiant they can recommend to me? I've got neither and we're less than 3 months out! :O
